Ediths birth was absolute chaos, so these are the only pictures we got before we rushed to the hospital. At about 4 in the morning (same as Lillie), I had my first contraction. I got up to use the bathroom, and was able to go back to sleep for a few more hours. At 7:30, I woke up knowing I was in active labor, so I got up to shower. When I was done, I went out to Chase, who was still in bed and told him we were going to have a baby that day, with the biggest smile on my face because I had been waiting so long for this day.
I called my parents and asked them to come get Lillie at 9:30, that way we could enjoy breakfast together, and then I could relax and concentrate more on my hypnobirthing, instead of stressing about taking care of my family. Once they left, we decided to get ready to leave for the birthing center. We got there a little after 10:00 am, but was only dilated to a 3, so we went home to try and speed up the process, about 45 minutes after we got home, something changed and it was time to go back to the birthing center.
On the drive I thought I was going to have the baby, and that terrified Chase, I've never seen him drive so fast. By the time we got to the center, I was ready to push, and about 45 minutes later we had our little Edith Sophia (although we didn't decide on that name until about a week later).
After we had her, I started bleeding out, and the called the EMS to wait outside if they couldn't get it under control. My placenta wasn't detaching, but my midwife was finally about the get it out, and get my bleeding under control, so the EMS left. Chase went to get us a protein meal, so we could get out of there, go home and have our whole family together, unfortunately that's not what the Lord had planned.
After we ate, I showered, dressed and got ready to leave. They were checking Edith one last time, when they found some concerning things with her breathing, it was much faster than they wanted. That's when my midwife told us we would have to be transferred to the Murray hospital and put Edith in the NICU. My heart broke and I was trying to convince myself there was no need to go, this is just like Lillie all over again. I wanted to pick up my baby and sneak out, but I knew in my heart she wasn't okay.
The following week we would be living in the NICU.
